My name is Sarah Butkovic and I'm a twenty-five year old writer, reader, crossword enthusiast, and overall geek for the English language. I received my BA in English and Journalism from Dominican University in 2021 and my MA in English from Loyola University Chicago in 2023. I currently work in editing full-time and have published creative and journalistic work in various zines and literary magazines. I've been writing creatively since I was a kid and continually got in trouble for working on stories in class instead of paying attention to my lessons. I've always been an avid reader with a special affinity for horror, gothic literature, and thrillers (I grew up on Nancy Drew and Mary Downing Hahn novellas) which only intensified as I grew into adulthood (fueled by Ray Bradbury and Stephen King). Nowadays, I'll read almost anything if it's weird enough, esoteric enough, or controversial enough (pretentious, I know). My favorite thing to do is pop into a bookstore and select a title at random; I've actually discovered one of my favorite books of all time (Horace Afoot by Frederick Reuss) that way!  Outside of writing, my hobbies include solving and constructing crossword puzzles, watching movies (big Hitchcock and David Lynch fan!), and collecting 80's memorabilia (think cassettes and VHS tapes). I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and I love my city to pieces. One day, I hope to publish one of the many novels collecting digital dust in my Google Drive and be able to make a living as an author.
